West Lancashire Yacht Club
Yes, that's what is on offer - a 24 hour team dinghy race, that should satisfy even our most fanatical racers! Well, that is on offer at West Lancashire Yacht Club later this year and we have some members who wish to form a team to take part if there are enough takers.
The basic idea is that the centre forms a team of about 12 people (helms and crews) and race for 24 hours around a course. It’s a very big social event with competitors of all ages and abilities taking part. As Rosie Johnson who proposed this idea remarks, it will be a really good way to bring the members together and do something a little bit different.
The event is held on the 15th/16th September and entries submitted before the 1st June attract and useful discount, meaning that the whole team entry would cost £200. It is quite a way to drive but with car sharing, this could be part of the fun and help reduce cost.
To get things started, Rosie has kindly prepared an entry sheet which is now on the main notice board at AWSC. However, to secure the discounted team price, the team needs to be formed quickly so if you are interested, please sign up before the end of the Spring Regatta on the 27th/28th May.
