Finn Inland National Championships 2015 - RESULTS

21 Apr 2015

Finn_Nationals_Competitors

A strong turnout of 31 Finns made the trip to Alton Water for a great weekend of racing.

Saturday provided a brisk 15-18 knots of high intensity; quick turn around racing that was perfect as an early season workout. With four races most sailors felt the effects when coming ashore after some really competitive racing on the windward/leeward course.

In the lighter and more trying conditions on the Sunday, age overcame youth with 2014 winner John Tremlett emerging to retain his title ahead of a very consistent Julian Smith.

Many thanks to the local sponsors of the event CopyIT and Seamark Nunn.

Yachts and Yachting report can be found here.

Results can be found here.

Looking forward to seeing you all again next year.

Thursday Night Racing

18 Mar 2015

The Alton Thursday Night Series (Mid-week Mayhem) starts soon on April 9th running until 28th May - This year we would love to get lots of non-racers out with us in this fun series, its an all in handicap off one single start at 1800 and we generally finish at or before 1900.  Its very social and great fun.  Any sailing dinghies (or windsurfers) can take part.

We are happy to help with hire boats (speak to the centre) if you need something to sail and there will always be someone to help you understand racing, starting, basic rules and we will even volunteer to helm or crew for you if you need us to.

We do need volunteer OODs for the night (average points if you do it so it doesn't affect your results), come and try this too, its the best view of the races and a great way to learn in a safe environment.

Oli Harris is the first OOD and Mark Smith will do the second race, we will need volunteers for the following ones.

Any questions at all get back to Paul Cooper at the Centre, Oli or me Mark Smith, we are quite friendly and come along and have fun - its free!

(Alton Water members only) Entry form available here
