New Rules and Regulations

The Management Committee have revised the Rules & Regulations to reflect changes in our operational procedures and to acknowledge the presence of the Great East Swim in our annual calendar. The changes will become effective from the 4th May 2009.

The most significant change relates to the changes in our policy relating to water observation.  The Duty Manager will now exercise decision as to whether at any given time, observation of the water will be instigated and this decision will be based on a risk assessment using predetermined criteria. 

This decision to amend the policy relating to water observation brings AWSC more in line with other sailing centres and ensures greater achievability of our safety policy.  It also ensures that members subscriptions are used as efficiently as possible in terms of productive use of staff time. 

We will shortly be announcing a members meeting.  Discussion of changes to our Rules and Regulations will be included in the agenda for this meeting.

New Safe Operating Procedures

The Safety and Management Committees have approved a revised version of the SOP's for Alton Water.  The new version becomes effective from the 4th May 2010.

Spring Regatta 15th/16th May

We will be holding our Spring Regatta on the weekend of the 15th/16th May.  On offer during the event:

• Up to 6 races over the two days with prizes on Sunday afternoon
  
• Organised games after racing on Saturday
• Hot lunches
• BBQ heat for a Saturday evening get together - bring your own food and drink
• Cooked breakfast on Sunday morning
  

In addition to our quality hot drinks machine and newly introduced snacks vending machine, we now also offer a free to use cyber cafe and wifi service so that you can keep in touch with the outside world!

Ladies race training - May 1st

We are delighted to announce that on Saturday 1st May, our newly qualified Race Coach and superb sailor, Chris Hart, has agreed to run a race training session, exclusively for lady members.  This session is free and with the tall, cool Chris in charge, we are certain that lady members will have a super time.

Please register your interest so that we can plan for numbers.  We will post event details nearer to the date.
