The
first step is always the biggest onto the sailing pathway and to make it as
easy as possible for you Alton Water offers regular level 1&2 courses for beginners or those with no or limited sailing experience. The basic skills course
aims to set out the basic foundations of sailing, covering rigging, launch and
recovery, capsize drills, sailing in all directions. By the end of the course
we aim to give you the confidence and decision making skills to go sailing in
good conditions.

Regular
sailing sessions give you the opportunity to sail cost effectively in a
variety of boats with like minded people in a relaxed environment. The will be
an instructor on hand to offer advice if needed but mostly it's a great and
affordable opportunity to get out onto the water and sail.
These are drop in sailing sessions run every Wednesday morning (10:00 - 13:00) from 2nd June through to the 15th September. The session price includes use of equipment.

This is a new course for 2010, introduced by the RYA as a steppingstone between level 2 and the more advanced courses. This course gives you a taste of all the modules and the structure of the course gives the instructor the flexibility to tailor the course more to your requirements.

are re-introducing Seamanship this year; this course is designed to work on
your five essentials, boat handling and manoeuvring skills. An ideal
opportunity for those looking to become instructors or those who just love to
learn to gain new abilities.

is an introduction to racing designed to not only get you to the start line but
round the course too, spending two days working on boat speed, rules and
tactics you will come away with the confidence to compete in club racing and
the knowledge to out fox your opponents.
