Rowing
Row boat hire was introduced to Alton Water during the summer of 2010 and was an instant hit with visitors to the area. We offer beautiful blue and white 16' rowboats either single or double oars, subject to your choice. The boats are stable and designed for lake or estuary use.
Maximum load weight is 300kgs which equates to 4 averaged sized adults / 2 adults and 3 or 4 children dependant on size. Buoyancy aids and lifebelts are provided. No special clothing is required, so you can just turn up and go as part of your day trip.
If members or day visitors wish bring their own rowing boats (inflatable's not permitted) for use on the water, they will be welcome providing that the craft is first inspected and approved by the centre manager and a payment in respect of our day access fee is made.
